A Hidden Gem and Must See!
Did you know there is a 21,000 seat auditorium in the heart of Salt Lake City? I sure had no idea. We were lucky enough to be taken on a tour of this spectacular facility on Friday evening. Started in 1997 and completed in 2000, this 1 square block mega building owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the world’s largest venue of its type. This venue is used for the semi-annual world convention and tabernacle choir performances and is not available for use by any for profit organization. The building contains the state of the art audio/visual technologies and a redundant power system which allows for them to maintain worldwide broadcasts through any scenario. The roof of the building is 4 acres and contains a nature reserve of local fauna. There is more to describe but this is something you must see for yourself. They do have tours available to the public to visit so you should drop by the next time you are in town. This tour was the highlight of my day.
